Upcoming: The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring- A Vernal Concert

Saturday, March 14th at 2pm

Thomas Crane Public Library – Richardson Building

This March, our local artists return to the historic Richardson Building at Thomas Crane Public Library to present “The Flowers that Bloom in the Spring: A Vernal Concert.”

Founded in 2025, The Maenad Theatre Troupe is a new non-profit performing arts project dedicated to building community through accessible classical music and theatre events across the South Shore and greater Boston area.  The troupe made their grand debut at the Thomas Crane with last year’s highly successful “Crimes of Passion: A Valentine’s Day Concert”, followed by a full production of the Greek comedy “Lysistrata” in the summer, and a play reading series in the fall.

This concert features a diverse program of music spanning centuries, including Renaissance madrigals, opera classics, contemporary musical theatre, and jazz standards that all pay tribute to new beginnings, budding romance, and the beauty of springtime. Selections include music from The Secret GardenCosi fan tutteThe MikadoCandide, and more. The music will be brought to life by eight local performers: Nic Awalt (tenor), Madison Christian (soprano), Sean Connaughton (baritone), Lee Ellis (mezzo-soprano), Lucio Faria (soprano), Rob Gullicksen (baritone), Thai Johnson (tenor), and Sara Lovetere (mezzo-soprano). They are joined by accompanist Marnen Laibow-Koser and master of ceremonies Jim Martin.

This performance is a FREE event presented in partnership with the Thomas Crane Public Library. The concert will be held in the Richardson Building on March 14, 2026 at 2:00pm.  Runtime is approximately two hours with a brief intermission.  Light refreshments will be provided. Audiences are encouraged to arrive early to ensure admission to the event, as seating is limited!
