Crimes of Passion

In February of 2025, The Maenad Theatre Troupe presented our first project, “Crimes of Passion: A Valentine’s Day Concert Featuring An Abridged Staging of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore” in the Richardson Building of the Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy. This concert was organized and directed by the founder of the Maenads, Lee Ellis.

The first act was a pastiche of classic opera scenes, including selections from Carmen, The Barber of Seville, Cosi fan tutte, The Magic Flute, and more. The second half was an abridged staging of Gilbert and Sullivan’s satirical melodrama Ruddigore.

The concert featured performances from Angela Maloney (soprano), Madison Christian (soprano), Heather Petitpas (soprano), Lee Ellis (mezzo-soprano), Bryan Sabbag (tenor), Lucio Faria (tenor), Sean Connaughton (baritone), and Rob Gullicksen (baritone). Check out the recording below to relive an afternoon full of mayhem, misfits, and madness performed by a wonderful cast!
